  • Explore the Vieux Nice: the Old Nice

Nestled at the foot of the castle hill, the old town of Nice is a small wonder to explore without moderation.

It is not very extensive, but there is so much to see and do that you can finally spend a lot of time there. All the senses awake, I rush into its maze of alleys and go to discover its many treasures.

Thee facades of Old Nice offer a whole range of warm and sunny colors. A Mediterranean atmosphere and even a touch of Italian.

With its many cafes and restaurants, its small shops of all kinds, its markets, and flea markets, Old Nice is teeming with activities and temptations. Difficult to resist the

attraction of all the delicacies and specialties that are sold on every street corner.

  • An outstanding architectural heritage

The Old Nice is also a large number of remarkable monuments with palaces and churches in the Baroque style, which remind us that the city belonged for centuries to the States of Savoy.

  • The Cours Saleya and the flower market

Before leaving the old town, go to Cours Saleya, a long pedestrian square that hosts every morning (except Monday), a colorful flower market in Nice where you can buy flowers, fruits, and vegetables in season.

Nice like a local

  • Walk to the heights on the Castle Hill

After having surveyed the old town in all directions, I am off to climb the Castle Hill, a huge rock which dominates the city.

It can be reached on foot from Old Nice, by elevator or by tourist train. The Castle Hill, considered to be the cradle of the city of Nice, is an old fortified site where the medieval upper town once stood.

If the castle has not existed for a long time, we can now enjoy the large park with trees for a moment of relaxation away from the city.

A pleasant walk, which is especially great for its panoramic views of the sea, the city skyline, the port and the mountains of the hinterland.

On foot, by bike, inline skates, lying on the beach or sitting facing the sea, everyone has their own way of enjoying it. Walk to the legendary Hotel Negresco while admiring the

  • See the Port of Nice

Compared to the size of the city, the port of Nice may seem small , On the other hand, it is rather pretty with its buildings with colorful facades and its surrounding wooded.

Clearly visible from the castle hill, you can also stroll around in search of the small fishing boats typical of the Mediterranean.
